Switch-disconnector ISP, switch-disconnector-fuse combinations ISPF and disconnector SE are an homogenous family of  MV indoor equipments for use in open substations.

The integrated concept uses only one type of operating mechanism, which makes for easy installation and interchangeability.

Switch and switch-fuse  combinations ISP e ISPF series

GENERAL CHARACTERISTICS

IEC 256-1 (1986) states:

  • General purpose switches capable of making 20 operating cycles (CO) at current rate.

  • "Increased operating frequency" switches capable of making 100 operating cycles (CO) at rated current.

EFACEC has designs for both categories:

  • ISP and ISPF for general purpose

  • ISPB and ISPBF of "increased operating frequency"

Technical characteristics are shown in technical data table.

Switch disconnector system are ISP/ISPF is based on a modular system, that permits switch-fuse combinations (ISPF/ISPBF) by the simple addition of fuse bases and striker pin fuse links in accordance with IEC 420 standards.

Switch-fuse combinations offer a more economical option to circuit breakers on system up to 36 kV by promoting three-pole tripping with striker pin fuses.

The tripping and closing speeds of main and arcing contact blades are independent of the operator.

Interrupting current operating principle:

  • On opening the arcing contact blade is retained in the quenching chamber by a latch, it only opens after the main blades attain the correct isolating distance then moves a high speed, breaking the current.

  • During this process the arc is drawn within the quenching chamber, cooled, suppressed and blown by the large volume of gas released, resulting in arc extinction.

  • The extinction takes place before the arcing contact leaves the quenching chamber, assuring complete safety.

Our switches offer:

  • High breaking capacity

  • Full operating safety

  • Visible isolating distance

  • Readily accessible contacts

  • Minimum maintenance

  • Easy and sturdy construction

  • Minimum space requirements

  • Approved characteristics (see Type Tests table)

EQUIPMENTS (PROVIDED ON REQUEST)

HRC Fuses: HRC fuses may be combined in the switches to form combinations ISPF / ISPBF with dimensions in accordance with DIN 43625.

NOTE: The 24 kV switch-fuse combination will accept 17.5 kV fuses by simply moving the lower connectors (see note in Dimensional Data and Weight table).

Earthing switches: Earthing switches can also be provided with a high making current capability, with it's own operating control which is independent of the main switch and can be assembled in the same or opposite side to the main switch handle.

Earthing blades are interlocked to prevent closure of the main switch when in the earthing position. The earth switches can be provided on either side or both sides on the main contacts.

Auxiliary contacts: A set of 4 auxiliary contacts (1NO + 1NC + 1NOL + 1NCL) are standard for all aparatus. Upon request we can provide contacts up to the maximum of 12.

Shunt trip coil: Opening by remote control can be achieved by provision of a shunt trip coil. Rated voltage: 200 Vac - 50 HZ (other voltages upon request). To avoid continuous energizing of the coil it is possible to insert in series one auxiliary conact,

Shaft extensions and supplementary cradle: If the switch-disconnector shaft is not long enough we can provide shaft extensions with supplementary cradle (L=500 or L=1000 mm).

Seccionadores séries SE

GENERAL CHARACTERISTICS

SE series disconnectors, made by EFACEC according to IEC 129 and 694 standards, are robust and reliable and are primarily used sectionalizing and isolating purpouses in MV (up to 36 kV) networks allowing a visual observation of the "open" and "closed" position.

Description and operating principle:

  • Permits direct wall mounting or frame mounting.

  • Epoxy resin support insulators and insulating links.

  • Silver plated moving blades.

The three poles are operated simultaneously through a square section operating shaft which permits shaft extension can be fitted on right or left side at different lengths making local adaptation to site installation conditions possible.

EQUIPMENT (PROVIDED UPON REQUEST)

Earth switch: the earth switch is operated by it's own mechanism (see Operating Mechaism). Control is independent of the main switch and can be assembled on the same or opposite side of the main operating handle. A mechanical locking device prevents closure of the earth switch while the main switch is in the closed position.

Auxiliary contacts: A set of 2 or 4 auxiliary contacts (1NO + 1NC + 1NOL + 1NCL) are standard for all apparatus.

Special shaft extensions: These are required for special applications between disconnector and the lever (see dimension "E" of Dimensional Data and Weight table).

supplementary cradle: These are required to support standard or special shaft extensions (see Dimensional Data and Weight table).

OPERATING MECHANISM

Both ISP switches and ISPF combinations and SE disconnectors are provided with the same type of control mechanism. Upon request disconnectors can be fitted with direct control.

The "O" type mechanism is operated by a handle via a tubular connecting rod. This connecting rod is a tube 3/4'' dia. that only will be provided upon request. The length of this tube must not exceed 3 m (see ACCESSORIES).

The drawing below represents the most common installation arrangement for this control mechanism, for the complete of ISP, ISPF and SE without accessories.

For special arrangements that will need angle links, locking devices, etc., please contact our Commercial Service.

ACCESSORIES (PROVIDED UPON REQUEST)

  • Intermediate bearing: Whenever the distance between operating mechanism and equipment exceeds 3 m, it is required that one or more bearings be positioned along its length. The operating tube is a 3/4'' dia. and will be provided upon request.

  • Angle link: This accessory makes possible a 90º deviation of the connecting rod which makes the connection between the "O" type manual operating mechanism and the equipment.

  • Interlocks: The "O" type mechanism can be fitted with locks. These locks retain the key during closing and sets it free in the open and locked position. The key may be used to operate other equipment or devices (doors for example).

INFORMATION REQUIRED WITH ORDER

  • Type of equipment, rated voltage and current.
