Instructions Manual

IATS® Switch disconnectors are SF6 technology outdoor apparatus for medium voltage network remote exploration. All active parts are protected inside a stainless steel tank full with SF6 and sealed for life.

IATS®  was designed to integrate a Distribution Automation system in order to achieve an improvement in supply reliability of overhead networks. From a control central faults can be cleared and isolated and the network can reconfigured remotely, reducing outages and improving the service quality and reducing global exploitation costs.

OPERATION

Control Cabinet

The control and communication unit is a microprocessor type unit designed for outdoor pole mounting. The IP 65 fiber glass reinforced control cabinet is mounted bellow the IATS at a distanced determined by the user.

In a addition to the electronic remote control unit it is possible to incorporate a fault protection module with a fault detection relay suitable for phase fault and earth fault protection.

The IATS is remotely controlled by a central control.

Switch operation

Manual and remote operations are available. Interlock between manual and electrical operation is provided. Manual operation is suitable up to 25 meters distance to the switch. Padlocks for manual handle can be provided optionally.

Personal safety

The possibility of faults on IATS pole switch is much lesser than in air insulated systems. The cubicle was designed and tested to resist structurally against the internal arc overpressure and hot gases. It is fitted with an internal arc overpressure relief in the top of the gas tank discharging upwards.

The switch isolation distances, in the open position, guarantee the disconnecting function.
